Manifolds & Headers
About Manifolds & Headers
A header, or manifold, collects exhaust from the cylinder head and sends it into the rest of the system. It is the first part of the exhaust after the engine, and riders replace one that is cracked or burned, or swap in a freer-flowing design for more power. The listings here are mostly for performance machines: PowerBomb headers, headers for the RZR Turbo, Maverick R and Maverick X3, and a two-into-one header for the RZR XP 900.
Headers are specific to the engine and the chassis, so match the machine and year. A two-into-one header merges two cylinders' pipes into one outlet. Some listings are for off-road or competition use, such as the cat delete header for the Maverick X3, so check local emissions rules and the product notes before buying. You will also need the correct gasket, and a new exhaust or tune may be needed to finish the job.
Brands in this category are Bikeman Performance, FMF Racing and Trinity Racing. Pick your machine in the Ride Finder at the top of the page. Next in the system are Silencers, Mufflers & Baffles and Exhaust Pipes & Tips, and the joints use Exhaust Gaskets & Seals. The full group is Exhaust & Emission Systems.
FAQs on UTV and ATV headers
What does a header do?
A header collects exhaust gas from the cylinder head and passes it to the rest of the system. Its design affects how smoothly the gas leaves the engine, which is why performance headers are made to flow better than stock ones for some applications.
Is a header better than a stock manifold?
Not for every rider. A performance header can flow more freely and may be lighter, but it can also change sound and tuning needs. A stock manifold is built for the engine as designed, so replace it with the same type if you only need a repair.
What is a two-into-one header?
A two-into-one header joins the pipes from two exhaust ports into a single outlet. It is common on twin-cylinder machines, and the RZR XP 900 listing here is an example. The design affects sound and power delivery, and it must fit the machine.
Do I need a tune after installing a header?
It is often a good idea. A header changes how the engine breathes, so a fuel-injected machine may need a tune or a fuel controller, and a carbureted one may need jetting changes. Check the maker's notes for your model.
What is a cat delete header, and can I use it on public land?
A cat delete header is made without a catalytic converter. It is generally meant for off-road or competition use, and emissions rules apply in many places. Read the product notes and check the rules for where you ride before you buy.
