About Mirror Components
When a mirror breaks, the fix is often a smaller part: a replacement glass, a clamp-on mount, a stem extender or an adapter that lets a different mirror fit. Riders shop here to repair a mirror they like instead of replacing the whole thing, or to adapt mirrors to new handlebars.
The parts fall into a few types. Mirror mounts attach a mirror to the handlebar and are listed for a bar size, such as 7/8 inch, and for the left or right side. Adapters change the thread or mounting style, for example from a handlebar end to a stem mirror, and universal listings show thread sizes such as M10 x 1.25 and M8 x 1.25. Stem extenders move the mirror head farther from the bar. Replacement glass is listed by size, such as 3 inch, and by mirror style. Match the thread size, direction and bar diameter exactly, because a part that is close will not hold the mirror firmly.
Brands listed here include CIRO, Drag Specialties, PSR, CRG and SP CONNECT. For complete mirrors, see Mirror Assemblies, and the whole group is Mirrors. Pick your bike in the Ride Finder at the top of the page if the part depends on your model.
FAQs on motorcycle mirror parts
How do I measure for replacement mirror glass?
Measure the width or diameter of the glass across its widest point, and note the mirror shape. If your mirror has a model name, use that to find matching glass. If the size is close but not exact, the glass may not seat in the housing.
What do mirror stem extenders do?
A stem extender lengthens the stem so the mirror head sits farther from the handlebar. It can help if your arms, wide bars or luggage block the view. A longer stem can also vibrate more, so tighten it well.
What is a mirror adapter for?
An adapter lets a mirror fit a mount it was not made for, usually by changing the thread size, the thread direction or the style of mount. Match the thread on both ends, and check whether the listing is for the left or right side.
What handlebar size does a mirror mount need?
The mount must match your handlebar diameter. A 7/8 inch bar is common on many bikes, and some use other sizes, so measure the bar or check the manual. A mount for the wrong diameter will slip or not close.
Are left and right mirror parts interchangeable?
Not always. Mounts and some threads are made for one side, and listings name Left or Right. Using the wrong one can mean the clamp or thread direction does not fit. Read the title and check the thread direction on your old mirror.
