About Lenses
A lens is the clear or tinted cover in front of a light. It keeps dirt and water out, shapes the beam and sets its color. Lenses scratch, crack and cloud over on trails, and replacing one is cheaper than replacing the whole light.
The category lists lens covers for specific light series, such as an SR-Q Series cover in amber, along with a yellow fog light lens and Vision X lenses in spot and fog patterns, in clear and selective yellow. Rock lights are listed here in amber, red, green, blue, clear and diffused versions. A lens only fits its own series and size, so match the series name and size to your light. Beam pattern depends on the lens: a spot lens narrows the beam and a fog lens spreads it, and a tint changes the color of the light.
Brands here include Heretic, Custom Dynamics, Rigid Industries and Vision X. For related parts, see Fog Light Assemblies, Headlight Assemblies and Hardware, Mounts & Brackets, all part of Lighting & Lamps. Our guide Why your part did not fit shows how to check fit.
FAQs on light lenses
Can I change a light's beam pattern by changing the lens?
On some lights, yes. A spot lens and a fog lens for the same light give different spreads, and Vision X lists both. Only lenses made for your exact light series and size will fit.
How do I clean a cloudy lens?
Wash it with mild soap and water and a soft cloth. Harsh solvents and abrasive pads can craze plastic. If the lens is yellowed or deeply scratched, replacing it is better than polishing, because heavy polishing can leave the surface hazy.
Does a colored lens make a light dimmer?
A tint filters some of the light, so output is a little lower than with a clear lens. Many riders choose yellow or amber for dust, fog or snow because it can reduce glare, and it is partly a matter of preference.
What are rock lights?
Rock lights are small lights mounted low on the machine to light the ground and obstacles around the wheels at low speed. Listings here show several colors, which also changes the look of the machine.
