About Frames & Parts
The frame is the structure everything else on a motorcycle bolts to. The two listings here are frame protection items for Yamaha dirt bikes: black frame protectors and a frame grip guard decal. Riders add them to keep boot scuffs and scratches off the frame.
Frame protectors are shaped to fit a particular frame, so check the model and years in the listing. The protectors are listed for 2014 to 2019 Yamaha YZ450F, YZ250F and WR250F models, and the grip guard decal for 2014 to 2018 YZ250FX, YZ450FX and YZ450F models. A decal-style guard goes on a clean, dry surface. A guard protects the finish only; it does not strengthen a damaged frame.
Brands here are Polisport and D'COR Visuals. For graphics and panels, see Decals & Vinyls and Fairings, Plastics & Body Kits, and for bolts and brackets see Mounts, Brackets & Hardware. The wider group is Body & Frame.
FAQs on frame protectors
What are frame protectors for?
They cover the parts of the frame that boots, knees and mud rub, so the paint stays in better condition and the metal underneath is less exposed to scratches. They protect the finish only and do not strengthen the frame.
Do frame guards fit every dirt bike?
No. A guard is shaped to a particular frame, and the listings name the model and years. Compare them with your bike, because frame shapes change between generations.
How do I apply a frame grip guard decal?
Clean the frame with a degreaser or alcohol and let it dry. Line the guard up before peeling the whole backing, then press it down firmly from one end to the other to push out air bubbles.
What should I do if my frame is cracked or bent?
Stop riding and have a qualified shop inspect it. A cracked or bent frame is a structural problem that guards or decals will not fix, and welding or straightening should only be done by someone qualified.
