Mirrors

About Mirrors

A mirror lets you see traffic, other machines in your group and a trailer behind you without turning around, which matters on a side-by-side with a roll cage and a limited view to the rear. Owners shop for them to add mirrors to a machine that has none, or to replace one broken by a branch or rollover.

The group divides in two. Mirror Assemblies holds complete mirrors, and Mirror Components holds parts such as mounts and color inserts. The listings include rectangle, oval and round side-view mirrors, a 5 inch round convex glass mirror on a billet arm, wide-angle and 17 inch panoramic rear-view mirrors, and a rear-view mirror with an LED cabin light. Mirrors and mounts are listed for Polaris Pro-Fit and Can-Am profiled ROPS, and mirrors are sized for 1.75 inch and 2 inch ROPS tubes and 2 inch clamps.

Choose by where the mirror will mount and what you need to see. Measure the tube, since clamp sizes have to match, and check that the mount fits your roll cage layout. A convex or wide-angle glass shows more of the area behind you, with objects looking smaller and farther away.

Brands include Parts Unlimited, Custom Dynamics, Puig Hi-Tech Parts, Axia and Biltwell. For other accessories, see Lighting & Lamps and Guards & Protection, both part of UTV | ATV.

FAQs on UTV and ATV mirrors

What size clamp do I need for a roll cage mirror?

Measure the outside diameter of the cage tube where the mirror will mount. Listings give clamp or tube sizes such as 1.75 inch or 2 inch, and the size has to match the tube. Some mirrors are made for a particular cage layout.

What is the difference between flat, convex and wide-angle mirrors?

A flat mirror shows true size and distance. A convex or wide-angle mirror shows a wider view, but objects look smaller and farther away than they are. Wide-angle glass helps with blind spots, so judge distance carefully when you rely on it.

How do I stop a mirror from vibrating?

Tighten the clamp and arm hardware to the maker's specification, mount on a solid tube, and use any rubber or gasket supplied. A longer arm vibrates more, so a shorter arm or a second clamp can help.

Is a center rear-view mirror useful on a side-by-side?

It can be. A center mirror shows what is directly behind the machine and a trailer or load, and a wide or panoramic version covers more. It needs a mounting point and a cab frame layout that allows it, so check the clamp and arm in the listing.
