PROGRESSIVE SUSPENSION
Progressive Suspension Shocks and Fork Kits
Most of the Progressive Suspension catalog here is rear shocks for Harley-Davidson, sorted into numbered series, so the first job is decoding the title. We list about 305 products: around 205 in Shocks & Coil Overs, with fork springs, fork kits, lowering parts, pumps and shop tools filling out the rest of Suspension & Handling.
The shock series
412 Series. The deepest range, with about 100 listings, in chrome and black and in Standard and Heavy Duty versions. Lengths and model names sit in the title, for example the 412 Series 11" Standard in chrome for FL/FX, the 12.5" Standard in chrome for FLH/T and the 12" Heavy Duty in black for Dyna.
444 and 422. The 444 Series has about 30 listings, with 12", 13" and 13.5" lengths and a Super-Duty option, such as the 444 Series 13" Standard in black and the 13.5" Super-Duty. The 422 Series is the adjustable chrome set, including the 422 Series Adjustable Shocks, 950 lb/in.
494, 944 and 990. The 494 Series with bearing, 14.0" Standard is one of 14 listings. The 944 Ultra Low and Ultra Touring shocks come in Standard, Heavy-Duty and Super-Duty, like the 944 Ultra Touring Heavy-Duty. The 990 Series is the four-listing remote reservoir line, such as the 990 Series 13" Black Heavy-Duty.
Forks, lowering and extras
Fork springs and cartridge kits. About 30 listings in Fork Springs, sold by tube diameter, like the 41 mm springs and the 34 mm springs for BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Triumph. The Monotube Cartridge Fork Kits come in 39, 41 and 49 mm, including the 49 mm Standard and a Gold Wing GL1800 kit.
Lowering. Lowering & Lift Kits holds the Lowers 2.00" kit for FXST/FLST, the fork lowering kit for Indian Scout and the Honda fork lowering kit.
Pumps, tools and ATV shocks. Gauge pumps for air shocks and forks, such as the 0-300 psi digital pump, plus fork oil, an oil level kit and preload wrenches. A handful of 512 Series shocks are filed under UTV | ATV suspension.
Match the shock to the bike
Check three things in the title: the series, the length in inches, and the Standard, Heavy Duty or Super-Duty label. Chrome and black versions are separate listings. If a title names a model such as Dyna or FLH/T, keep to it, since lengths differ between frames.
Progressive Suspension questions
What do 412, 444 and 944 mean? They are series numbers. Compare the series, length and finish in each title to find the one listed for your model.
What do Standard, Heavy Duty and Super-Duty mean in a title? They are separate listings for the same series, so pick the label that matches the part number you want rather than assuming one fits every bike.
Can I buy fork springs alone? Yes, springs have their own listings, separate from the cartridge kits.
