Helmets Parts & Accessories
About Helmets Parts & Accessories
A helmet is built from more than its shell, and the parts that touch your head and face are the ones that wear, scratch or go missing first. Riders shop this section to replace a scratched shield, bring back a flattened liner or set of cheek pads, add a sun visor or a communication headset, or keep a helmet clean.
The sub-categories are Helmet Parts, Visors, Visor Inserts, Helmet Accessories and Helmet Care & Cleaning. Listings here include cheek pads, liners, shields, helmet holders and cleaning products. The main rule is to match the part to the helmet: brand, model name, size and often the model generation all matter. Cheek pads and liners change how the helmet fits, so choose the size or thickness the maker specifies for your shell size. The shell and the foam liner cannot be repaired, so a damaged one means the helmet needs replacing.
Brands here include THOR, ICON, AGV, 6D Helmets and Biltwell. For complete helmets, go back to Helmets. A part that does not fit usually traces back to a model or size mismatch, and why your powersports part did not fit explains how to avoid that.
FAQs on helmet parts and accessories
How do I find the right replacement shield for my helmet?
Use the helmet's exact model name, usually printed on a label inside the shell or in the manual, and match the listing to it. Shields are cut for a specific shell shape, so a shield from another model or an earlier generation may not seat or seal properly.
Can I change the cheek pads to get a better fit?
On many helmets, yes. Some makers sell cheek pads in several thicknesses for the same model, which tightens or loosens the fit around the face. Use only pads made for that helmet and size, and replace them as a pair. If the helmet is still loose with the thickest pads, the shell size is probably wrong.
When should I replace a scratched shield?
Replace it when scratches scatter light at night or in low sun, when it is cracked, or when it no longer seals against the eyeport. A shield you cannot see through clearly is a safety problem, and shields are designed to be swapped.
Is a visor the same thing as a shield?
Not always. On street helmets, the terms often mean the clear or tinted face cover. On off-road and adventure helmets, visor often means the fixed peak above the eyeport. Read the listing: peak parts name a peak or visor peak, and face covers name a shield or faceshield.
Will a Bluetooth headset work in any helmet?
Many clip-on headsets fit a wide range of helmets, but the speakers need room in the ear pockets and the mount needs a suitable place on the shell. Check the headset listing for compatibility, and do not drill or glue anything to the shell.
