YUASA

Yuasa Motorcycle Batteries, Chargers and Testers

Yuasa is a battery brand where the product name tells you the build: AGM, High Performance AGM, GYZ Factory-Activated, Yumicron and Conventional each have their own run of listings. We list about 160 Yuasa products, and roughly 150 of them are batteries, filed in Batteries with a smaller group of ATV and UTV fitments in UTV | ATV Batteries. Titles carry the Yuasa code, then the battery type, then a list of makes, models and years.

Rider Magazine's 45th-anniversary piece says Yuasa was founded in Japan in 1918, entered the North American market in 1979, and makes its AGM powersports batteries in Laureldale, Pennsylvania.

Batteries, by type

AGM Maintenance-Free. The largest family, with about 30 listings such as the YUAM62TZ5 for KTM, Honda, Yamaha, Can-Am and Kawasaki, the YUAM3RH4L for Harley-Davidson and Buell Sportsters and the YUAM6230XPW for Sea-Doo. A few use the YTX or YTZ code in the title, such as the YTX14-BS and the YTZ7S, sealed and factory activated.

High Performance AGM and GYZ. About 17 listings carry High Performance in the name, among them the YUAM720BH for Harley-Davidson, Ski-Doo and Yamaha and the YUAM6RH4H for BMW, Ducati and Honda. Nine more are GYZ Factory-Activated, including the YUAM720GZ for the Honda Gold Wing and the YUAM720GH for Harley-Davidson, Sea-Doo and Polaris.

Yumicron. About 40 listings, many for older models: the YUAM228A3TWN for '88-'00 Honda Gold Wings, the YUAM2230CTWN for Sea-Doo and the YUAM2216YTWN for the Ducati Paso.

Conventional, 12 V and 6 V. About 30 listings. The 6-volt batteries suit vintage bikes, such as the YUAM26111 for '49-'68 Triumph and the YUAM2612D for '70-'79 Honda, and 12-volt versions include the YUAM2221B. Battery acid is listed separately as Battery Acid.

Chargers, testers and small parts

Chargers include the 1.2 Amp 12 V charger and maintainer, the 2 A 6/12 V charger and the 3 A 12 V charger. For checking a battery there is the 12 V Bluetooth battery and charging system tester. Small parts include battery bolt and nut sets, battery spacers, 8-foot jumper cables and the fused ring connector.

Matching a battery to the machine

Look up your model and year in the title rather than the battery type alone, because one code is often listed for many makes and a model can appear under more than one code. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki show up most often, with Harley-Davidson, Triumph, Ducati and snowmobile and watercraft brands also named. Compare 6 V against 12 V before ordering, since vintage bikes use both.

Yuasa questions

What does Factory-Activated mean in a title? It is part of the GYZ and YTZ listing names, so read the listing for what arrives in the box.

Are the old Yumicron batteries still listed? Yes, about 40, and many name older models, with year ranges that start as early as the 1960s.

Do you list batteries for jet skis and snowmobiles? Yes. Titles name Sea-Doo models, and Ski-Doo and Arctic Cat appear in several AGM and Yumicron listings.
