WOODY'S
Woody's Snowmobile Runners, Wear Bars and Studs
A snowmobile that wanders off line on pavement, gravel or hard-packed trail is usually asking for fresh carbide, and carbide is most of what Woody's does. We list about 500 Woody's products, nearly all of them in Skis & Runners and Tracks & Studs, and the titles name Polaris, Ski-Doo, Yamaha and Arctic Cat models.
Powersports Business, in a golden-anniversary piece, says International Engineering & Manufacturing was established in 1968, that James Musselman and Woody Kozlow developed the first carbide runner in the mid-sixties, and that the Woody's name covers carbide runners and carbide-tip studs.
Runners and wear bars
Flat-top carbide runners. The biggest group, in 4", 6" and 8" lengths. The Ace line is sold by brand, for example the Ace Flat-Top Carbide Runners, 4", for Polaris and the 8" Ski-Doo version. The Executive Series 8.0" runner for Polaris and the Extender Trail III runner for Arctic Cat are separate lines.
Wear bars. About 70 listings, including the Trail Blazer IV Flat-Top wear bar, 6", for Ski-Doo, the Slim Jim2 wear bars, 6", for Arctic Cat and Yamaha and the Top-Stock Hard Surface Bar for Polaris.
Dooly runners. The Dooly Runners, 6", for Polaris come in 4", 6" and 8" sizes, and there is a Slim Jim Dooly Runner as well.
Small sleds and ski protection. The Mini Sled Runner for Arctic Cat is listed beside the Navigator Ski Protectors for the Pro Steer and the Pilot 5.7/6.9 version.
Studs, support plates and tools
Carbide studs. Sold by length and pack size, such as the 1.000" carbide studs, 96 pack, the Mega-Bite 1.450" studs, 24 pack and the 1.86" Race Studs.
Support plates and nuts. Plates come in Grand Digger and Double Digger styles and in colors such as black and white, like the Double Digger plates, black, 48 pack and the Grand Digger plates, round, 12 pack. The Big Nuts, tall, 5/16" are listed beside them.
Tools. A short run for studded-track work: the Track Tension Tool, the Stud Tool, the Track Clip Tool and the 10" Spring Hook Tool. A few Twist Tire Screws turn up in Other Wheel & Tire Parts.
Before you order
Woody's part codes repeat across brands, so read the whole title for the sled brand, bar or runner length, and the pack count on studs and plates. Some wear bars and runners name a model range or a number like 60 or 90 after the length, so compare that with what is on your skis.
Woody's questions
Do runners and wear bars come in pairs? The listings are by part, so check the title and add what your skis need.
Do studs and support plates sell as a set? No. Both have their own listings, in several pack sizes.
What is the difference between a runner and a wear bar? Titles use both names for carbide pieces that mount on the ski. Read the line name and length, then match them to your sled brand.
