About Storage & Racks

Storage and racks give a UTV or ATV somewhere to put gear that would otherwise ride on your lap or slide around the bed. Riders add them to carry tools and recovery gear, protect a rifle or shotgun in a case, keep drinks cold for a long day on the trail, or keep tools and spares organized.

Start with what you need to carry and where it will ride. Cooler bags, hydration packs and gun cases are portable and need little or no mounting. Racks, boxes and trunks bolt to the machine and carry more, so they have to match your make and model. Some listings here, such as the Polaris Lock & Ride and Can-Am LinQ anchor mounting kits, are made for one brand's quick-attach system and will not suit another. Check the stated load capacity too, because heavy weight carried high or far back changes how the machine handles.

The group splits into Trunk & Cargo Boxes and Other Storage & Racks. Brands listed here include EVS, DEI, Warn, Deuter and All Balls. For parts that depend on your machine, pick it in the Ride Finder at the top of the page, and if you are unsure how to confirm fit, read why your part did not fit and how to avoid it. FAQs on UTV and ATV storage and racks

How do I choose between a rack, a box and a soft bag?

Choose by how much you carry and how often. A soft bag or cooler bag goes on and off quickly and needs no hardware. A rack or box gives a fixed place for heavier or bulkier items but must be bolted on and matched to your machine. A closed box also protects its contents better than an open rack.

Will a mount or anchor kit work on any machine?

Not always. Many are made for one brand's system or for a list of models and years. Polaris Lock & Ride and Can-Am LinQ are separate quick-attach systems, so a kit for one will not suit the other. Read the fitment line in the listing, or pick your machine in the Ride Finder to narrow the results.

How much weight can I put on a cargo rack?

It depends on the machine and the rack. The owner's manual and the rack's listing give the rated capacity, and you should stay under both. Keep heavy items low and near the center of the machine, and strap everything down so it cannot shift while you ride.

What should I use to tie down a load on a UTV or ATV?

Use ratcheting straps or tie-downs with a stated load rating, and attach them to solid points on the rack, frame or bed. Bungee cords alone can let a heavy load shift. Check the straps before each ride and keep loose ends away from the wheels and drivetrain.

How do I keep gear dry on the trail?

A closed box or case keeps out more dust and water than an open rack. Many soft bags and cooler bags are water resistant rather than waterproof, so check the listing. Put phones, paperwork and spare clothing in a sealed bag inside, whichever kind of storage you use.
