The hourglass shape also catches snow from the ski sides for more positive tracking on trails, tightening the turning radius by an average of 1 to 2 feet in soft snow conditions. They're 20% lighter than conventional 1/2-inch round wear bars and zinc-plated for corrosion resistance, with a lifetime wear rate nearly equal to standard round and square bars. Manufactured by Stud Boy and designed and tested by USI, some models require drilling extra holes in the skis.
