About Misc. Accessories
Miscellaneous Accessories is a mixed shelf of items for transporting a machine and working on it. The listings include tie-down straps and trailer kits, L-track connectors, a leakdown test kit, a valve lapper set, screw extractors, a threaded insert riveter, a shock wrench, socket rails, a tire plug kit and a mechanic's stool. Some are made for jet skis and many are general powersports tools, so read the title.
For tie-downs, check the strap width, length and hook style, and use straps with a working load rating that covers the machine. Soft-tye loops protect the finish at the attachment point. For tools, match the tool to the job: a leakdown test kit checks how well a cylinder holds pressure, a valve lapper set is for lapping valves to their seats on engines that have valves, and screw extractors are for removing broken fasteners. Read the product details for the sizes and fits.
Brands here include Fox, Texa, Woody's, Atlantis and Helix. For oils and fuel treatments see Chemicals & Lube, and for washes and polishes see Cleaning & Detailing. The group is Accessories.
FAQs on tie-downs and shop tools
What is a leakdown test kit used for?
It feeds compressed air into a cylinder with the piston at a set position and shows how much pressure leaks away. The result points to worn rings, valves or a leaking gasket. Follow the kit's instructions and your service manual for the readings.
What strap size do I need to tie down my machine?
Choose straps whose rated working load covers the weight of the machine, with enough length to reach the tie-down points. Use at least two, check them for fraying before each trip, and re-tighten them after the first few miles.
What is a soft-tye tie-down?
A soft-tye has a looped strap end that wraps around a rail or tie point, so the metal hook does not touch the finish. It is a gentler way to attach a strap to painted or plastic parts.
How does a screw extractor work?
You drill a small hole into the broken fastener, then turn the extractor in reverse so its flutes bite and unscrew it. Go slowly and use the correct drill size, as extractors are hard and can snap.
Is a tire plug kit a permanent repair?
Plug kits are generally meant as temporary fixes to get you moving, not as lasting repairs. Have the tire inspected as soon as you can, and follow the tire maker's advice on whether it should be repaired or replaced.
