PIRELLI

Pirelli Motorcycle, Dirt and Scooter Tires

Pirelli tire names carry a lot of information, and the catalog here covers street, dirt, adventure and scooter riding in about 310 listings. Nearly all of them are in Tires. Each title gives the part number, the family name, front or rear, the size and a load and speed code, so you can sort by family first and size second.

Pirelli's own site says the company was founded on 28 January 1872 in Milan by engineer Giovanni Battista Pirelli, and that its first products were industrial rubber goods such as transmission belts, tubes, valves and insulation.

Specialty names include the MT 21 Rallycross, the MT 16 Garacross and the MT 43 Pro Trial front in 2.75-21.

Scooter

Reading a Pirelli title

The size comes right after the position, for example 120/70ZR17, with the rim diameter as the last number. Dirt and cruiser sizes often use a hyphen or a B (100/90-19, 130/60B19), while adventure sizes use an R (110/80R19). The code after the size, like 58W, is the load and speed code. About 115 listings are fronts, about 177 are rears and 17 are marked Front/Rear, so match the position as well as the size.

Pirelli questions

Does one tire fit both ends? Only the Front/Rear listings, such as the Angel Scooter, SC 30 and Night Dragon GT. Most titles say Front or Rear.

Do you list scooter tires? Yes, mostly the Angel Scooter and Diablo Rosso Scooter in 12-inch and similar sizes.

Why do a few Pirelli tires sit in Other Wheel & Tire Parts? About a dozen, including some Night Dragon and Scorpion Rally sizes, are filed in UTV | ATV Other Wheel & Tire Parts or Other Wheel & Tire Parts instead of Tires, so check there if a size is missing.
