About Exhaust

A jet ski's exhaust carries hot gas from the engine out of the hull, usually through a water-cooled system that sits in tight space beside the engine. It runs hot and faces water and salt, so clamps loosen, springs and bushings wear, and heat insulation fails. Owners shop here to fix a leak or rattle, to cut radiant heat in the hull, or to fit a free-flow pipe for a performance change.

Most of this category is hardware. Stainless exhaust clamps are sold by diameter range, such as 1.44-1.58 in. or 2.44-2.62 in., so measure the outside diameter of the joint and pick the clamp whose range contains it. Exhaust springs, in lengths such as 83 mm or 95 mm, hold pipe joints together on models that use them. Heat barrier, exhaust wrap and sealing tape reduce heat, and bushings, screens and plugs are listed too. Free-flow pipes are model-specific and can change how the engine runs, so check the maker's notes on tuning, and check local noise rules.

Brands here include DEI, Helix, Worx, WSM and Riva. Exhaust changes often involve Intake & Fuel Systems and Engines, Impellers & Component, and the group is PWC. Pick your machine in the Ride Finder at the top of the page for model-specific pipes.

FAQs on jet ski exhaust parts

What does exhaust wrap do on a jet ski?

Wrap and adhesive heat barrier reduce the heat that radiates from the exhaust into the hull and onto nearby parts. Apply them only as the instructions describe, because wrap can hold moisture against a pipe and speed corrosion if it is used wrongly.

How do I pick the right exhaust clamp size?

Measure the outside diameter of the joint where the clamp will sit. Each clamp lists a diameter range, for example 2.19-2.37 in. Choose one whose range includes your measurement, and replace clamps that are rusted or have lost their grip.

Will a free-flow exhaust change how my jet ski runs?

It can. A freer-flowing pipe changes how air moves through the engine, which may call for tuning or jetting changes. Read the maker's notes for your model, and check local noise rules before you fit one.

What are exhaust springs used for?

On models that use them, exhaust springs hold slip-fit pipe sections together so the joint stays sealed. They are sold by length, such as 83 mm or 95 mm, so measure your old springs and match your model.

What should I look for when inspecting a jet ski exhaust?

Look for cracks, leaks, loose or rusted clamps, and soft or cracked hoses. An exhaust leak can let hot gas and water into the hull. Check it at each service as the owner's manual describes.
