OHLINS

Ohlins Shocks, Fork Cartridge Kits and Steering Dampers

Ohlins is a suspension brand, and the catalog here sorts into four jobs: rear shocks, fork upgrades, steering dampers and the springs and oils that go with them. We list about 113 Ohlins products, roughly 84 of them under Suspension & Handling, and the part numbers carry a two-letter prefix that points at the bike: HD for Harley-Davidson, YA for Yamaha, BM for BMW, FKR and SD for sportbike forks and dampers.

Öhlins says on its own history page that the company dates to 1976, when Kenth Öhlin started it, and that it grew up around the race track and his father's garage.

Rear shocks

Harley-Davidson. The biggest group, about 27 listings with an HD prefix. Twin shocks include the HD 357 13-inch fully adjustable STX36 for 1991 to 2013, the HD 762 12-inch rebound-adjustable Blackline and the HD 777 13-inch emulsion Blackline for 1990 to 2025 models. Other Harley options include the HD 513 STX Performance at 12.5 inches and the HD 051 STX Pro for 2014 to 2026.

Sportbike and other shocks. The TTX GP line is the lead name here, with the YA 468 for 2015 to 2026 Yamaha and the BM 568. The BM 504 46DRS is a rear shock for 2005 to 2009 BMW R1200 models. Browse the full set in Shocks & Coil Overs.

Fork upgrades

FKR cartridge kits. About 17 listings, each tied to a model range. Examples are the FKR 223 for 2013 to 2026 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, the FKR 222 for 2019 to 2025 BMW M1000RR and S1000RR and the FKR 215 for Ducati Panigale V2 and V4.

FKS NIX kits for Harley. Eleven listings with NIX22 or NIX30 cartridges, including the FKS 508 for Softail and the FKS 527 for 2023 to 2025 FLH/FLT CVO.

Small-bike damping kits. The FDK 111 for the Grom and the FDK 112 for the 2019 to 2025 Honda Monkey are the two small-bike kits. The cartridge and damping kits sit in Fork Rebuild Kits.

Steering dampers

About 23 listings, split between the SD series and the SD20 damper kits. The SD 030 at 68 mm and the SD 007 Blackline universal are stand-alone units. The SD20 kits name the bike, such as the SD20 065 for 2021 to 2026 Honda CBR1000RR-R and the SD20 040 for 2018 to 2026 Ducati Panigale V4. See all of them in Steering Stabilizers & Dampers.

Springs, oil and seals

Seven fork spring listings are priced by rate, like the 30 mm 0.99 kg/mm spring and the 51.39 lb/in fork springs, in Suspension Springs. For service there is 10wt fork oil in 1 L, 5wt suspension oil in 4 L and a fork seal kit for road and track forks.

Ohlins questions

How do I pick the right Harley shock? Match the length in the title (12, 12.5, 13 or 13.5 inches) and the year range, then read the rest of the title for a model name such as Low Rider ST, since only some listings name one.

Is a steering damper bike-specific? The SD20 kits are written for named models. The plain SD units, such as the SD 030 or the Blackline SD 007 universal, list a diameter instead of a bike.

Are fork springs sold by rate? Yes. The spring titles state the rate, in kg/mm or lb/in, and the diameter, so match both to your forks.
