About Fender Eliminators

A fender eliminator replaces the long factory rear fender and plate holder with a short bracket that carries the license plate, leaving a cleaner, tighter tail. Riders choose one for the look, when the stock fender is damaged, or to match other changes at the rear of the bike. The listings here are mostly kits for street and sport bikes from Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, KTM, Ducati, Triumph, BMW and Indian.

Kits are model specific, as the model and year ranges in the listings show, because mounting points differ from bike to bike. Check what each kit includes, since contents differ. On many bikes the rear turn signals and plate light are attached to the fender, so you may need to relocate or replace them. Without a fender, spray from the rear wheel can reach the back of the bike and the rider in wet weather. Local rules cover where a plate must sit, its angle and whether it must be lit, so check yours.

Brands here include DRC, DMP, Yoshimura, Puig Hi-Tech Parts and Rizoma. For plate frames and brackets see License Plates, Frames & Holders, and for fenders that keep the stock look see Fenders. The wider group is Body & Frame.

FAQs on fender eliminator kits

Is a fender eliminator legal?

Rules on where the plate sits, its angle and whether it must be lit vary by place, and a setup that does not meet them can fail an inspection. Check your local requirements before installing, and choose a kit that keeps the plate visible and lit as required.

How do I know a fender eliminator fits my bike?

Kits are made for particular models and years because the mounting points differ on each bike. Use the model and year range named in the listing, and pick your machine in the Ride Finder at the top of the page. A kit for a similar model may not line up.

Do I need to move my turn signals and plate light?

Often. On many bikes the stock rear turn signals and plate light mount on the fender that you are removing. Some kits include a way to relocate them, and others need compatible signals or lights. Read the listing for what is included before you order.

Does removing the rear fender matter in wet weather?

Yes. Without the long fender, water and debris from the rear tire can be thrown toward the back of the bike and the rider. Many riders accept this for the look, but if you ride in the rain often, weigh it before choosing a kit.
