Body & Frame
About Body & Frame
Body and frame parts give a motorcycle its shape and hold everything together: plastics and fairings, fenders, seats, stands, windshields, plate mounts and the hardware that fastens them. Riders shop here after a crash or tip-over, when plastics fade or crack, to change the look of a bike, for comfort, or to replace a bent stand or a lost bolt.
The sub-categories split the job by part. Fairings, Plastics & Body Kits covers panels and body kits, including full replacement kits for dirt bikes such as the Honda CRF, with Fenders and Fender Eliminators for the fender area. Decals & Vinyls refreshes graphics and race numbers. Seats, Parts & Accessories is the comfort group, with its own sub-categories for seats, covers and backrests. Windshields shield the rider from wind, Kick Stands & Center Stands hold the bike up when parked, and License Plates, Frames & Holders and Mounts, Brackets & Hardware cover the plate, bolts, brackets and mounts. See also Frames & Parts and Other Body & Frame.
Shapes and mounting points change between model years, so pick your bike in the Ride Finder at the top of the page. Brands here include Athena, Arlen Ness, Acerbis, Biltwell and BBR Motorsports. For help avoiding a wrong-part order, see our guide to avoiding the wrong part.
FAQs on motorcycle body and frame parts
Do body parts from one model year fit the next?
Sometimes, but not reliably. Makers change panel shapes, mounting points and colors between generations. Plastics are usually listed by model and year range, so use the years named in the listing, and pick your bike in the Ride Finder to narrow the list.
Which body and frame parts affect safety?
Plastics, decals and most fenders are cosmetic. The frame, the steering parts and the mount points that carry wheels and controls are structural, and a stand decides whether a parked bike stays up. If a frame is bent or cracked, have a qualified shop inspect it rather than repairing it yourself.
Should I buy a full body kit or individual panels?
A full kit replaces the whole set at once with matching colors, which suits a bike with several worn or damaged panels. Individual panels, such as a single fender or side panel, make sense when only one piece is damaged, though matching the color of the rest of the bike can be harder.
What does a fender eliminator do?
A fender eliminator replaces the long factory rear fender and plate holder with a short bracket, which gives the tail a cleaner look. Local rules cover where a license plate sits and whether it must be lit, so check them before installing one.
Do I need new fasteners when I replace plastics?
Often it is worth it. Old bolts and clips strip, corrode or break, and plastic panels can crack at the mounting points if the fasteners are overtightened. Fit panels without forcing them, and follow your service manual for any tightening values.
