K&N Air Filters, Intake Systems and Oil Filters
Open any K&N listing and the first thing to read is the prefix on the part number: HD, HA, YA, KA, SU, BM, TB, PL, CM and so on. It tells you the maker the filter was cut for, and the rest of the title tells you the bike or the shape. We list about 480 K&N products, nearly all of them filters, with roughly 100 in UTV | ATV Air Filters and the rest across Motorcycle Air Filters and Motorcycle. Yamaha (about 76 titles), Honda (72), Kawasaki (58) and Suzuki (50) lead the make names.
K&N's own blog says its founders, Ken Johnson and Norm McDonald, started with a motorcycle repair shop in Loma Linda, California.
Replacement air filters
The largest group is replacement filters, about 175 titles that say "Replacement High-Flow," and about 140 of them add "OE." Examples are the Yamaha YA-1906, the Honda HA-1818, the KTM KT-1320 and the Can-Am CM-9910. About 65 more are written with the year range and model, such as the BMW K1600 filter for '11-'25, the Ducati Monster 600 and 900 filter for '93-'02 and the Yamaha Tracer 9 filter for '24-'26.
Race-Spec. Twelve sportbike filters carry the Race-Spec name, among them the Suzuki SU-1308R, the Honda HA-1008R and the Ducati DU-1112R.
Harley-Davidson, Indian and Victory
About 30 titles name Harley-Davidson families. Filters include the Touring and Trike HD-1508, the M8 Touring and Trike HD-1717 and the Sportster HD-0900. Intake kits are in the same range: the Street Metal Shaker in black for Twin Cam, the Shaker for M8 and the Aircharger system in black for '17-'22 Electra Glide. The Indian PL-1720 and the Victory PL-1608 cover the other American brands.
Quads and side-by-sides
Polaris appears in about 19 titles, Can-Am in 12 and Arctic Cat in 9. Look at the Polaris PL-1014, the Can-Am CM-8016, the Arctic Cat AC-8119 and the Wildcat filter for '13-'16. The Drycharger wrap for Polaris is sold separately from the filter.
Universal filters and breathers
About 34 listings are universal, sized by inside diameter, like the 52.5 mm clamp-on, the 43 mm and the 63.5 mm. Other universals are named by shape, such as Centered, Angled and Offset. Eleven crankcase vent filters come as remote mount, such as the 62-1110, or direct mount with a chrome top, like the 62-1360.
Oil filters and care products
About 62 oil filters are listed by KN code and the makes they cover, among them the Honda KN-113, the BMW KN-164, the Indian, Polaris and Victory KN-198 and the chrome KN-172C. For the filter itself, Chemicals & Lube has the 6.5 ounce aerosol oil, the 8 ounce oil bottle and the 32 ounce cleaner.
Matching the filter
Read the part number prefix, then the make and model or year range. Some listings say only "AIR FILTER" and a code, so open the page before ordering. Because filters and oil filters sit in several categories, searching the part number on this page is quicker than browsing a category. Our fitment guide covers what to compare.
K&N questions
What do HD, YA and PL mean? They are the prefixes on the part number, one per maker: Harley-Davidson, Yamaha and Polaris.
Is the filter sold pre-oiled? The titles do not say, so check each listing. Filter oil and cleaner are separate items.
Do the intake kits include a filter? Intake kit titles name the system and finish, so read the listing for what is in the box.
