BRAKING

Braking Brake Rotors and Pads

Braking is mostly a rotor-and-pad catalog: about 425 listings, with roughly 250 rotors in Brake Disc Rotors and about 165 pad sets in Brake Pads. A few caliper brackets, levers and master cylinders round it out, and there is a separate run of UTV and ATV parts.

Braking's own company page says it was founded in 1990 to produce and distribute aftermarket brake discs, is based in Italy, and now describes itself as specialized in brake discs and pads for motorcycles, bicycles and UTVs.

Rotors, by series

SK2. The biggest series, about 55 listings, sold by bike and often by side. Examples are the SK2 rotors for the Yamaha Tenere 700, XSR700 and FZ-07 and the SK2 rotor for Triumph.

Batfly and EPTA. About 14 Batfly listings, such as the Batfly rear rotor for Kawasaki and Suzuki. The roughly 19 EPTA listings include the EPTA 280 mm rotor for Honda and an EPTA off-road rotor for the 2011-2012 Husqvarna TXC 450.

Racing, fixed and oversize kits. Racing rotors are mostly rears, like the rear for the Yamaha Super Tenere. Simpler front fixed rotors are listed too, and 270 mm kits such as the Suzuki rotor kit come with the parts for the larger size.

Pads, by compound

Pad titles name the compound first, which makes the choice easy to read.

Semi-metallic. About 65 sets, the lowest-priced group, for example the set for 1981-2008 Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, Bimota and Ducati.

Sintered Sport. About 70 sets, including the set for Triumph, Suzuki and Yamaha Thunderbird models.

Sintered High Performance. About 16 sets, such as the pad set for the Vulcan 1500 Mean Streak and Ninja ZX-12R.

Controls, brackets and UTV parts

The levers and master cylinders are small in number: the CAM-B1 folding forged brake lever and a 16 mm brake master cylinder. Caliper brackets include the bracket for the CRF. For side-by-sides, browse UTV | ATV brake rotors, including the Can-Am and Polaris rotors.

Match the part to your bike

Braking part numbers cover one bike or a short list, and many pad titles run through a long list of models and years. Read the whole title, confirm front or rear, and compare the rotor's side (left or right) and diameter with what is on the bike.

Braking questions

Are rotors sold singly or in pairs? Listings are per part, and many are marked left or right or front or rear, so a bike with dual front discs needs two.

What do the pad names mean? Semi-metallic, Sintered Sport and Sintered High Performance are the compound names in the title. Pick the one the listing shows for your bike.

Do you carry rotors for ATVs and UTVs? Yes, in the UTV | ATV category, with Can-Am, Polaris and Arctic Cat among the fitments.
