Individual Gauges
About Individual Gauges
A stand-alone gauge adds one or two readings to a machine without replacing the whole dash. Owners fit them to see engine hours, temperature, speed or gear position, or to replace a gauge that has failed.
The listings here cover several kinds. There are multi-function gauges, such as a GP-style RX-2N panel with a 10,000 RPM scale and the Vapor speedometer and tachometer computer, a digital LCD gauge and hour meters. For temperature there are surface-mount and ambient air meters, dual EGT gauges in standard and fast-response versions, and a meter with a 10 mm fin sensor. Voyager GPS kits are listed for Kawasaki, Polaris, Yamaha, Arctic Cat, Can-Am and Suzuki machines. Electronic shift sensors are listed for Honda Rancher and Foreman models, and an XKCommand switch panel is shown too.
Decide what you need to read, then check how the gauge is mounted, how it is powered and whether it needs a sensor. Some are universal and some are model-specific.
Brands include Vertex, XK Glow, Trail Tech, Fire Power and Koso North America. Related parts are in Instrument & Gauge Parts, Instrument Clusters and Wiring Harnesses, Cables & Connectors, all part of Instruments & Gauges.
FAQs on individual gauges
What is the difference between a standard and a fast-response EGT gauge?
A fast-response EGT probe reacts more quickly to changes in exhaust temperature, so you can see a spike as you change the throttle. A standard probe reads more slowly. Check the listing for which version you are buying.
Where does a temperature meter sensor go?
It depends on the type. A fin sensor fits between cylinder cooling fins, a surface-mount sensor attaches to the part it reads, and an ambient sensor measures air temperature. Follow the maker's instructions for the sensor location.
What does a GPS gauge kit do?
A GPS-based gauge reads speed from satellite signals instead of a wheel sensor, so it is not thrown off by a change in tire size or gearing. It still needs power and a place to mount, and some also show other readings.
How do I choose a gauge for my machine?
Decide what you need to read first, then check the mounting style, the power connection and whether a sensor is included. Some gauges are universal, while others, like the Honda shift sensors, name specific models and years.
