About Cleaning & Detailing
Salt, sand, sunscreen and algae leave a film on a jet ski, and the products in this category help get it off and protect what is underneath. The listings include washes and foam wash concentrate, polish and wax, a ceramic protection kit, windshield and anti-fog cleaners, metal polish and air filter cleaner.
Match the product to the surface. A wash concentrate or foam wash suits the whole machine, wax or a ceramic kit protects the finish afterward, and a metal polish is for bare metal parts. Windshield and plastic cleaners are made to be gentle on clear plastics, and anti-fog cleaners are for windshields and visors. Foam air filters need a cleaner and then filter oil, so check which type of filter your machine uses. Electrical cleaner is for connectors, so check its label before using it near paint, seats or plastics. Test a new product on a small spot first.
Brands here include Lucas, Permatex, Muc-Off, Spectro and Maxima Racing Oil. For oils and fuel treatments see Chemicals & Lube, and for tools and tie-downs see Misc. Accessories. The group is Accessories.
FAQs on cleaning a jet ski
Can I use car wash soap on a jet ski?
A mild vehicle or motorcycle wash is usually fine if its label says it is safe for the finish. Avoid harsh degreasers on gelcoat, vinyl and decals, rinse well, and wash the machine after riding in salt water.
How do I clean a foam air filter?
Remove the filter, wash it with a filter cleaner, let it dry completely, then coat it evenly with filter oil made for foam. Do not wring it out so hard that it tears. Follow the filter maker's instructions.
Why should I rinse a jet ski after riding in salt water?
Salt left on metal, wiring and fasteners speeds corrosion, and it dries into a crust that is harder to remove later. Rinse the hull and metal parts with fresh water after each ride in salt water, and flush the cooling system as your owner's manual describes.
What does an anti-fog cleaner do?
Anti-fog cleaner leaves a thin film on windshields and visors that reduces fogging. Use only one labeled for plastic, apply it with a soft cloth, and avoid products that can haze or scratch clear plastics.
Is wax or a ceramic coating better for a jet ski finish?
Wax is easy to apply and wears off sooner, so it needs reapplying. A ceramic coating lasts longer but needs careful prep and curing. Both should be kept off the seat top and grips, where they would make surfaces slippery.
