About Other Transmission & Drivetrain Parts

This category gathers the leftover drivetrain parts that do not belong with the clutch, gears or bearings. The samples are mostly shifting parts, such as shifter drum kits, a shift kit and a quick shift module, plus tools for the clutch basket and hub, transmission side cover assemblies, a compensator ramp and a speedometer drive block-off kit.

The listings are model specific, so match the model and year. A quick shift module, such as the one listed for Suzuki, lets you shift up without closing the throttle or using the clutch, and it needs to be compatible with the bike. Shifter drum kits are listed by speed count and year range, such as the 5-speed kits for 1998 to 2000 Harley-Davidson models. Clutch basket and hub tools hold the part still while you loosen the nut. A block-off kit closes the speedometer drive opening when the mechanical drive is no longer used.

Brands here include Jims, EBC, Drag Specialties, S&S Cycle and Dynojet. Pick your machine in the Ride Finder at the top of the page. For the main drivetrain groups see Gearbox & Transmission Parts, Clutch Parts & Kits and Gaskets & Seals, all part of Transmission & Drivetrain.

FAQs on shifters and other drivetrain parts

What does a quick shift module do?

A quick shift module lets you change up through the gears without using the clutch or closing the throttle, by briefly cutting the ignition as you press the shifter. It needs to be made for your model and wired as the instructions say.

When does a shifter drum need replacing?

A worn shifter drum can cause missed or false gears, but linkage, clutch and shift fork problems look similar. Check the simple causes first, and open the gearbox to inspect the drum before replacing it.

What is a speedometer drive block-off kit for?

It closes the opening left when the mechanical speedometer drive is removed, for example when an electronic speedometer is used instead. It keeps oil in and dirt out. Check that the kit is made for your transmission.

What are clutch basket and hub tools used for?

They hold the clutch basket or hub still so you can loosen or tighten the center nut without damaging the clutch. They are specific to the engine, so check the listing for your make and model.

How do I find the right part in this category?

Use the Ride Finder to choose your year, make and model, then read the listing for the model range, speed count and what is included. Parts here are specific, and similar-looking ones are not interchangeable.
