About Clamps & Mounts

Foot pegs and floorboards are only as secure as the mounts holding them to the bike. A mount that bends in a tip-over, a clamp that slips or a stud that has stripped will let a peg swing, loosen or drop, which is worth fixing before the next ride. Riders also come here to add passenger pegs, to change a peg's mount style, or to replace a part that was lost.

Match the part to how your bike is set up. Peg mounts come in male and female styles, and listings state which one they are, so confirm what your pegs use. Some parts are adapters, such as male footpeg adapters, which are sold to fit a peg to a different style of mount. Thread size is the next detail, and the listings here show sizes such as 3/8 inch-16 on front and rear peg mounts.

Clamp-style parts, such as a peg mounting clamp for a 1-inch tube, fit a frame or guard tube of that diameter, so measure it. Passenger mounts and board mounts are usually model-specific, and the listings here include bike names such as Softail and Suzuki Boulevard. Use threadlocker where the maker advises it, and do not straighten a bent mount, since that can leave a crack.

Brands in this category include Ciro, Drag Specialties, Arlen Ness, Rivco Products and Accutronix. Pick your bike in the Ride Finder at the top of the page for mounts made for it. FAQs on foot peg mounts and clamps

What is the difference between male and female peg mounts?

The terms describe how the peg and its mount connect: one has the stud or pin, the other has the receiving hole. A peg only fits a mount of the matching style, unless you use an adapter. Check which your bike or peg uses.

What does 3/8 inch-16 mean on a peg mount?

It is a thread size: a 3/8 inch diameter with 16 threads per inch. The mount thread must match the peg or stud it connects to. Check the listing's thread size against your existing part before ordering.

Why do my foot pegs keep working loose?

A loose bolt, a worn mount or a damaged thread is the usual cause. Clean and inspect the threads, replace worn parts, and use threadlocker if the maker recommends it. Tighten to the value in your service manual.

Can I add passenger pegs to my motorcycle?

If the bike has passenger peg mounting points or the frame is made for it, yes. Many passenger mounts are model-specific, so use the Ride Finder to see which ones are made for your bike.

Should I straighten a bent peg mount?

No. Bent metal can hold a hidden crack and fail later under your weight, so replace the part. After a fall, also inspect the bolts, the frame mounting points and the peg that was attached.
