Other Exhaust & Emission System Parts

About Other Exhaust & Emission System Parts

The small exhaust and emission parts that have no section of their own end up here. Typical items are oxygen sensor bungs, plugs and adapters, flat sheet exhaust packing for silencers, exhaust springs, protective sleeves and tape, wash plugs, reduction cones and outlet plugs. Riders shop here when they are building or repairing an exhaust, moving a sensor to a new pipe, repacking a silencer that has gotten loud, or looking for a spring or strap that the main exhaust section does not list.

Treat it as a parts bin organized by the job. For oxygen sensor work, the thread size is the deciding detail, and the listings show 18 mm and 12 mm sizes, weld-in bungs for new pipes, adapters that step between the two sizes, and plugs for a port with no sensor in it. Exhaust packing is the sound-absorbing material inside a silencer, and a flat sheet is cut to size and used to re-pack one that is worn out. Springs and straps are sold to fit a particular joint or mount. Outlet plugs are sold by diameter. If the part is not here, check the other exhaust categories.

Brands in this category include Helix, HardDrive and Drag Specialties. Many of these parts are universal, but for model-specific ones pick your bike in the Ride Finder at the top of the page. FAQs on exhaust bungs, plugs and packing

What is an oxygen sensor bung?

A bung is a short threaded fitting welded into an exhaust pipe so that an oxygen sensor can screw into it. Match the thread size to your sensor, since both 18 mm and 12 mm sizes are listed here.

How do I plug an oxygen sensor port?

Use a plug with the same thread as the port. A plug only seals the hole. If the sensor itself has been removed, the bike's fuel system loses its reading, so check your manual for what that does on your model.

What is exhaust packing and when should I replace it?

Packing is the sound-absorbing material in a silencer. When a silencer gets louder, raspier or starts to blow out fibers, the packing may be burnt or worn. Repack it following the silencer maker's instructions.

Do exhaust springs fit every pipe?

No. They are sized for a particular joint or muffler, and the listings usually name the exhaust or bike. Match the spring to your part, and replace springs and rubber when you take a slip-on apart.

How do I find a part for my own exhaust?

Pick your bike in the Ride Finder at the top of the page and read the listing's fitment notes. Many items here are universal, so check the sizes in millimeters or inches against the part you need to replace.
