Motion Pro Cables, Tools and Throttle Parts

Open a Motion Pro listing and the first thing you see is a part number like 02-0020 or 66-0270, and the brand family follows in the title: Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, Harley-Davidson. We list about 1,430 Motion Pro products. The core is control cables, in Clutch Cables and Throttle, Idle & Cruise Control Cables, with a large shelf of shop tools in Tools & Supplies.

Cycle Gear's interview with founder Chris Carter says he started Motion Pro in 1984, began with control cables, and added specialty tools a few years later.

Cables, by type

Clutch cables. About 300 listings, and roughly 220 say black vinyl, such as the Honda black vinyl clutch cable and the Suzuki version. About 75 are for Harley-Davidson, among them the black vinyl top half cable for '18-'24 Electra Glide.

Throttle and idle cables. Close to 350 listings. Japanese-brand titles say Pull or Push/Pull, like the Kawasaki pull cable and the Yamaha push/pull cable. Harley-Davidson sets are written as throttle/idle cables.

Armor Coat and Blackout. Armor Coat is the stainless line, about 100 listings, most for Harley. Examples are the Armor Coat stainless throttle/idle cable for '96-'17 models, the Road King version and the braided stainless clutch cable for '86-'06 Harley and Buell. Blackout has 50 more, such as the Blackout throttle/idle cable for the '96-'17 Fat Boy.

Brake, choke and meter cables. Around 60 brake cables, including ATV brake cable listings, plus about 30 choke cables and 70 speedometer and tachometer cables. The Kawasaki speedometer cable is typical, and instrument drive cables collects them.

Throttle kits, levers, grips and fuel parts

The Rev3 Variable Rate Throttle Kit has 37 listings, from the Honda and Suzuki kit for GSX-R600 and CRF models to the KTM and Husqvarna kit and the Yamaha YZF-R3 kit. Match the cable to the bike

Cable titles are short, and many name only the brand family, so lean on the part number and the listing's fitment details. Harley titles carry year ranges and model names; compare them to your bike, and check Pull against Push/Pull before ordering throttle cables. Tool titles give a size in millimeters or a thread pitch; match it to the nut, cap or shaft.

What is the difference between Armor Coat and Blackout? Armor Coat titles say stainless steel, some braided, and Blackout titles say Blackout. Both lean toward Harley-Davidson, so compare the model years.

Are throttle cables sold as a set? Titles name a single cable. Check each listing's text for what is in the box.
